AV Team Job Descriptions

Program Director
The program director is responsible for the overall management of the Media Team at any event to ensure that desired program outcomes and objectives are achieved. The person must have adequate knowledge and information about the program, be able to make informed decisions, and communicate with the Media Team members as to nuances in the program. 


Stage Manager
The stage manager is responsible for giving information from the director in the control room to the crew on the studio floor, and then back to the director. The stage manager ensures presenters and guests meet their cues and the program runs smoothly. The stage manager places microphones, microphone stands, and other pulpit furniture where and when needed. 


Video Director
The video director is responsible for the creative look of a production through selecting which shots to use at any given moment. The director views the action on the studio floor through a bank of screens, each linked to one of the cameras, while issuing instructions down to the video switcher operator. 


Video Switcher Operator
The video switcher operator, switches between video sources—such as camera shots and video inserts. They also maintain color and contrast balance between the studio cameras. 


Camera Operator (Stand-alone Cameras in balcony) 

In general: Work with director to determine all aspects of shots. Provide practical and creative input to scene planning. Select, assemble and position equipment. You will be expected to show:  

sound theoretical, practical and technical knowledge the cameras 

The ability to frame and compose shots.

The ability to perform camera moves accurately.

Interpersonal and communication skills.

The capacity to multi-task and take directions from others.


Remote Camera Operator (TV Room)
In general: Be proficient in the operation of the remote cameras console which controls four (4) cameras positioned at various locations in the church sanctuary. Know how to use the buttons and joystick to white balance, pan, tilt, and zoom in and out. Work with director to determine all aspects of shots. Provide practical and creative input to scene planning. You will be expected to show:
Sound theoretical, practical and technical knowledge the cameras. 

The ability to frame and compose shots.
The ability to perform camera moves accurately. 

Interpersonal and communication skills.
The capacity to multi-task and take directions from others. 


Graphics Operator
The graphics (CG) operator is responsible for the presentation of graphics, motion graphics and video playback during the services. The CG Operator displays the lower thirds (inserting names), song lyrics, text, and subject lines. The CG Operator may also be responsible for creating full screen graphics. You will be expected to: 

Be proficient in ProPresenter software.
Input data into the CG computer prior to the services.
Multi-task and take directions from others. 


Audio Technician
Knowledge of sound equipment and acoustics is essential for an audio technician. The audio technician manages audio equipment such as a mixing board. The technician is responsible for sound checks, equipment placement, volume and quality of sound. They should have some background in sound technology or engineering.
