MEMORIALS

Gus Alvarez (wife Mirtha) long-time member and brother of Bill Alvarez, passed away on February 7. A Memorial Service was held at Collegedale SDA Church on Wednesday, February 12.


Cassandria Smith (daughter of Ruth and Neal Smith) passed away on September 24. There will be a memorial service at Forest Lake Church on Sabbath, February 15, at 4 p.m. In leu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry.  This ministry was very close to Cassie’s heart.


Ransom Smith passed away on January 17. There will be a memorial service at Forest Lake Church on Sunday, February 23 at 1 p.m. In leu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Forest Lake Church Children’s Ministry Fund  OR  St. Luke’s Preschool Memorial Fund/RDS, 50 Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928


Elizabeth Collins passed away on January 17. A memorial service will be held at Forest Lake Church on Sunday, February 23, at 4 p.m.

MISSION: "IMPURSEABLE"

This mission, should you choose to accept it, would require you to give away a purse(s) filled with items listed below for those who need a tangible expression of God’s love. This year your donations will be presented to SALT Outreach, Inc. Ministry of Orlando Florida. To reach this goal, all purses must be at the church (filled or unfilled) by Saturday, February 15, 2025, for packaging and processing on Sunday, February 16, 2025. OUR GOAL FOR 2025 IS 150 PURSES. Below are specific ways you can help. 

Provide: New, gently used purse, or small backpack filled with the items listed below.

Donate: items listed below, or $25 for the campaign to the Forest Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church and place “Mission Impurseable” Project on the memo line to assist in purchasing the necessary items for the purses.

Volunteer:  Sort and pack the items in the purses and pack purses into boxes for delivery, by texting your name and hours of availability to Pamela Callwood - (407) 353-9013. You will receive a confirmation text.

List: The purse can be filled with the following personal items: sanitizer, disposable gloves, shampoo, conditioner, perfume, sanitary items, socks, soap, deodorant, devotional, chapstick, lotion, wash cloth, dental floss, toothbrush with cover, toothpaste, alcohol-free mouthwash, facial tissue, comb/hairbrush, laundry soap, wipes, Q-tips, shaving cream, manicure sets, disposable razors, socks, etc.

PRAYERS FOR STUDENTS

Do you have a passion for the spiritual lives of our students? High school can be a time of tremendous growth, but also anxiety. Every Wednesday, we write personalized notes (and add a cookie!)  to the high school students in our church to let them know they are loved, valued, and prayed for. Join us at 8:15 in the Connection Center off the main lobby to help. If you have a student who does not attend FLA that you would like us to send a note to, please contact Christina Algeo at calgeo79@gmail.com.

    FOR SINGLE PARENTS

    There aren’t many people who truly understand the unique challenges single parents face. You deeply desire to do what’s best for your kids, but sometimes it’s all you can do to survive from one day to the next. Single & Parenting is a special group that will bring hope to your life. We’d love for you to join us.

    Meets once a month on the 4th Sabbath 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

    Flex and Stretch

    Come join us to develop physical and spiritual strengths as we flow through the class with intentional focus on scripture and God’s grace, the leading of the Holy Spirit and the Wholeness of God. The exercise and stretching level is beginner to intermediate and participants should be able to go from a seating to a standing position. Please bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water for hydration.

PRISON MINISTRY

BIBLES for Local Inmates — We are collecting Bibles to share with inmates at the Orange County jail. If you have any lightly used or new Bibles please place them in the Container provided in the church lobby Connections Room. Preferred Bibles would have soft covers, newer versions such as NIV or NKJV, and larger size print. Thank you for your faithful support of the Prison Ministries activities.
